December 2014
This month’s genre is, “A Holiday Film for Lovers of all Genres!”
Unbelievable. It is December, and this is the last genre of 2014. Truthfully, everything feels busier, and, unfortunately, Reel Club has moved to a back burner in recent months. Sad, but that is not a permanent placement! That said, I kick off December’s genre with the hopes of finding the time to end the year on a blogging high!
Reel Club typically reserves December for holiday films (with the exception of 2010). There are so many of them, and ’tis the spirit to (re)watch Christmas movie after Christmas movie, right? Well, most the popular holiday films have already been discussed here, and so this year Reel Club has to take a more unconventional approach. Therefore, I present a genre walk through holiday films! For those who love children’s, fantasy, stop-motion films, first up will be The Nightmare Before Christmas. Then, for those interested in a Christmas comedy, Bill Murray in Scrooged. Third will be a flashback to a classic Hollywood musical, with Judy Garland singing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” in Meet Me in St. Louis. And, lastly, for the horror addicts, the original 1974 Black Christmas. With all those genres included this month, there should be something for everyone!
